Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., announced Monday, Sept. 16, that he is issuing an executive order that directs $20 million in state funding to raise awareness about the health risks associated with vaping cannabis oil products. Newsom said the state would also increase enforcement against counterfeit products, especially those that are being marketed to children, and would consider increasing the warning labels that are required on vaping products. A number of other states have already taken steps to reduce e-cigarette use after several people died after vaping. Hundreds of others have reported becoming sick after using e-cigarettes.
